Senior Cats

The place to visit for your old kitties needs

Introduction

Everyone will have a different experience when caring for a senior cat. We hope you find something that can assist you through the good and the bad moments you may experience with your senior kitties or give you insights to what may come.

The products we recommend are primarily UK based but we are sure alternatives can be found in your country if you speak to your local pet shop or vet. We will continue to update the site as we are all still learning.

We must point out we are not vets. The information you find on this site is from experience. Please consult your vet if you are unsure about any advice or products mentioned.

introduction

Senior Cats

Most cats are considered to be a senior from the age of 11 and the average life span can be between 14 - 17 years of age. Many cat's can live to be 20 years or more especially as there is so much on the market to give your cat a quality life.

You may notice your cat becoming more of a house cat and less of a street cat. Their focuses change and they will be looking for warmth and affection. As they start to struggle with daily routines they will rely and look up to. This is the time for bonding and quality time to reassure them they are not alone.

Signs of Old Age

As your cat gets into their senior years we recommend getting regular checkups through out the year. Some vets offer senior discounts. These are very useful as they normally cover blood pressure, blood and urine tests which give you an update on their insides.

If you notice any major change in your cats behavior, mood or routine it is worth getting your cat checked by a vet. Look out for any changes in the following list but do not worry as the signs are better noticed than to go unnoticed.

  1. Walking
  1. Jumping
  1. Sleeping
  1. Climbing
  1. Grooming
  1. Loafing
